SUMMARY:No Cost MA Workforce Training Program
DESCRIPTION:IrriTech Training is an approved provider for MA Worforce Training Fund Program\n  \n   \nThe Express Program is one of two Workforce Training Fund Programs \n(WTFP) in Massachusetts administered by Commonwealth\nCorporation. The Express Program subsidizes the cost of skills-based\ntraining via reimbursement grants for for-profit and some non-profit\ncompanies. Express is funded through a state surcharge on\nUnemployment Insurance. \nMassachusetts businesses with 100 or less employees will receive a reimbursement grant of up to 100% of the cost of training. Eligible Massachusetts businesses with more than 100 employees will receive a reimbursement grant of up to 50% of the cost of training.\nCourses Offered: \nLandscape Irrigation Technician: Troubleshooting & Technology\nThis instructor-led\, in person training program is targeted toward irrigation techs with a basic understanding of system principles and able to perform simple repairs. This 8-hour program will result in: \n\nA better understanding of hydraulic principles in irrigation system.\nDevelop understanding of relevant principles of electricity and troubleshooting equipment to more quickly manage electrical faults with irrigation systems.\nDevelop troubleshooting skills in more advanced two-wire paths to increase skills on larger\, commercial systems.\nDevelop skills needed to work with flow sensing and wireless communication. Training will be during work hours with presentation and reinforcement with practice activity.\n\nLandscape Irrigation Technician: Scheduling Efficiently\nThis instructor-led\, in person training program is designed for landscape irrigation technicians that have an understanding of systems and basic repair. Skills will allow technician to schedule irrigation more efficiently with smart watering technology\, resulting in reduction of water applied. During this 8-hour program tech will develop these skills: \n\nBetter understanding of soil\, plant and water relationships.\nAdvanced knowledge of system performance for scheduling.\nAbility to create a time-based schedule.\nUnderstanding various inputs required to efficiently use weather and soil moisture sensors for programming of smart irrigation technology.\n\nTraining will be during work hours with presentation reinforcement with related activities. \nIrrigation System Management\nThis 12 hour course will develop skills needed to efficiently manage the water used in landscape irrigation systems. By understanding and practicing the dynamic model of landscape water managment\, which completes a loop of system assessment\, communication\, inspection\, maintenance and performance upgrades\, irrigation systems will waste significantly less water\, especially in the face of weather extremes from ongoing climate change. This course will present all of the relevant activites and skills required and follow with a day of in-field instruction and practice. This course is ideal for landscape contractors\, irrigation professionals\, tree care contractors\, plumbers and water system managers\, property / facility managers\, landscape architects and designers\, as well as environmental designers and consultants. DESCRIPTION:Irrigation System Inspection and Analysis: A Day of Hands-On Training\nApproved for 8 WC CEC’s + 2 NJ Business Laws ad Codes Credits (available remotely as part of Advanced Learning Series in December 2026) \nDate:  Wednesday\, October 7th\nRain date: Thursday\, October 8th\nLocation:  The Mills at Jersey Gardens Mall\n651 Kapkowski Rd\, Elizabeth\, NJ 07201\nThis full day of in-field\, hands-on training includes business and technical components. The business topics include using an improved inspection process and tuning that process into sales of efficient upgrades and better system management.  The technical components include a review of the unique aspects of this irrigation system(s) including improving the quality of the water source\, assessing the pumping systems and possible improvements for control\, managing all the controllers (some conventional\, some decoder) and potential improvements\, two-wire and wire path troubleshooting\, simple improvements to increase system layout and uniformity and techniques for evaluating and managing the PVC mainline and piping in the system. \nLearning objectives: \n\nUnderstand options for measuring and treating the quality of water for the system\, including rust mitigation.\nIncrease knowledge of pumping systems and control options\, and basic programming skills for VFD’s.\nIncrease comfort level with making recommendations for improving the control systems with appropriate upgrades.\nImprove skills with two-wire troubleshooting and diagnostic equipment (wire locating\, etc.)\nRecognize simple steps to improving sprinkler layout and improving application uniformity.\nIncrease knowledge of managing piping systems including larger PVC mains.\n\n \n
