IrriTech Training is an approved provider for MA Worforce Training Fund Program

 

 

The Express Program is one of two Workforce Training Fund Programs

(WTFP) in Massachusetts administered by Commonwealth
Corporation. The Express Program subsidizes the cost of skills-based
training via reimbursement grants for for-profit and some non-profit
companies. Express is funded through a state surcharge on
Unemployment Insurance.

Massachusetts businesses with 100 or less employees will receive a reimbursement grant of up to 100% of the cost of training. Eligible Massachusetts businesses with more than 100 employees will receive a reimbursement grant of up to 50% of the cost of training.

Courses Offered:

Landscape Irrigation Technician: Troubleshooting & Technology

This instructor-led, in person training program is targeted toward irrigation techs with a basic understanding of system principles and able to perform simple repairs. This 8-hour program will result in:

  1. A better understanding of hydraulic principles in irrigation system.
  2. Develop understanding of relevant principles of electricity and troubleshooting equipment to more quickly manage electrical faults with irrigation systems.
  3. Develop troubleshooting skills in more advanced two-wire paths to increase skills on larger, commercial systems.
  4. Develop skills needed to work with flow sensing and wireless communication. Training will be during work hours with presentation and reinforcement with practice activity.

Landscape Irrigation Technician: Scheduling Efficiently

This instructor-led, in person training program is designed for landscape irrigation technicians that have an understanding of systems and basic repair. Skills will allow technician to schedule irrigation more efficiently with smart watering technology, resulting in reduction of water applied. During this 8-hour program tech will develop these skills:

  1. Better understanding of soil, plant and water relationships.
  2. Advanced knowledge of system performance for scheduling.
  3. Ability to create a time-based schedule.
  4. Understanding various inputs required to efficiently use weather and soil moisture sensors for programming of smart irrigation technology.

Training will be during work hours with presentation reinforcement with related activities.

Irrigation System Management

This 12 hour course will develop skills needed to efficiently manage the water used in landscape irrigation systems. By understanding and practicing the dynamic model of landscape water managment, which completes a loop of system assessment, communication, inspection, maintenance and performance upgrades, irrigation systems will waste significantly less water, especially in the face of weather extremes from ongoing climate change. This course will present all of the relevant activites and skills required and follow with a day of in-field instruction and practice. This course is ideal for landscape contractors, irrigation professionals, tree care contractors, plumbers and water system managers, property / facility managers, landscape architects and designers, as well as environmental designers and consultants. This course is important for developing proactive skills that are expected by those that are responsbile for managing the amount of water used in keeping our urban landscapes healthy.
