Protecting irrigation electronics from the ravages of electrical surges and lightning is essential for the modern, sophisticated controllers, sensors, and other irrigation equipment. Understanding the science of creating an adequate grounding circuit is at the heart of creating the proper level of protection.

This course covers National Electrical Code grounding for public safety and equipment grounding for irrigation controllers and booster pumps.  In it, we will discuss some misconceptions regarding lightening, electrical behavior, proper ground rod and ground plate installation, and minimizing equipment damage.
